SETTING CUTTER OFFSET ON GRAPHTEC PLOTTERS

On most plotters cutter offset is set as a distance in millimetres.

The most common setting for the most commonly used blades are

0.25mm 0.3mm 0.45mm 0.5mm

BUT

On Graphtec plotters cutter offset is set in TWO stages.

First you set the TOOL to the Graphtec part number of the blade you are using

then you set  the OFFSET

These TWO settings combine to create the offset setting.

The offset compensation is in the tool setting.

What Graphtec describe as offset is really only for fine adjustment.

MOST COMMON SETTING

When using the most commonly used blade or Smart Knife you would set

TOOL to 09U  - This sets the compensation for that blade type.

OFFSET to 0 [Zero] -Unless you wish to make fine adjustments.

LESS COMMON SETTINGS

There are other types of blade or Smart Knife you might use for cutting unusual materials and these would need you to set your machine to suit them.

You would set TOOL to ????  [the part number of the blade type]

You would set OFFSET to 0 [Zero] -Unless you wish to make fine adjustments.

OTHER OPTIONS

On some Graphtec models in the list of blade part numbers you might find OTHER.

It is simply another way to set the machine without using blade part numbers.

It is of no benefit to most Graphtec users.

If you are curious and want to understand it - call us.

Or read the much neglected manual!

When trawling through menus you may see settings for OFFSET ANGLE and OFFSET FORCE

THEY ARE FOR ENGINEERS ONLY

THEY ARE NOT RELATED TO CUTTER OFFSET

DO NOT ADJUST THEM.
